Scottish boys' match-play championship at Dunbar

TWO SEEDS, BYRNE AND
STEWART, MAKE IT
THROUGH TO LAST 32
Only two of the original eight seeded players, Banchory's James Byrne and Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck), made it through to the last 32 by the end of a long third day's play in the Scottish boys' match-play championship at a much calmer Dunbar.
Earlier, the number of surviving seeds was trimmed from three to two on the afternoon when Kyle Smith (Barassie) was beaten in the third round by Germany-based Simon Taylor who won by 5 and 4.
Top seed and title-favourite James Byrne cruised through to the fourth round with a 6 and 5 win over Jonathan Caldwell (Greenock).
Byrne, pictured right, reached the semi-finals last year.
Michael Stewart, the No 2 seed, had to play twice today to get into the last 32 but he did so without being really stretched.
Here's how they line up on Thursday:

First quarter
Gary Meechan v Andrew Campbell.
James Byrne v Jack Bradley.
Ryan Elder v Malcolm Pennycott.
Paul Ferrier v Darryn Grant.
Second quarter
Simon Taylor v Josh Anderson.
