MACAULAY JOINT RUNNER-UP
IN NORTH CAROLINA
Callum Macaulay from Kincardine, in his final year at Mississippi University, finished joint second with a seven-under-par total of 209 in the Palisades Collegiate Classic at Palisades Golf Club, Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was Callum's highest final placing in a 54-hole event and his sixth top-5 finish of the 2006-2007 US college season.
Tulliallan Golf Club member Macaulay had rounds of 71, 68 and 70 over the 6,797yd, par-72 course for a total of 209, two shots behind the winner, Brad Benjamin (Memphis) with 70, 69 and 68.
Macaulay tied for second with South African Dawie Van Der Walt (Lamar University), ranked No 9 on the American college circuit.
Lewis Kirton from Oldmeldrum, a freshman student at Louisville University, finished joint 25th in a low-scoring tournament with rounds of 71, 73 and 73 for one-over-par 217.
Macaulay's fine effort helped Mississippi to finish third behind Charlotte and Lamar in a field of 18 for the team evnt. Louisville came joint fifth.
