Fisher still leads on weather-hit day in Dubai Desert Classic
AS LIGHTNING STRIKES
The second round of the Dubai Desert Classic will not be completed until Saturday morning - but Paul Lawrie, pictured right, and Gary Orr know their fate without having to wait that long. The projected cut after a weather-hit day is for those with 141 (three under par) or better to make it through to the last two rounds.
Lawrie scored 74 and 73 for 147 while Orr totalled 145 with 75 and 70 over the 7,301yd course with a par of 72.
A lightning storm forced play to be suspended for 2hr 15min. Not surprisingly, there was not enough daylight left when play was restarted for everybody to complete their rounds.
Ernie Els will go back at 7.45am on Saturday with four holes to play. He is six under par for the second round and 12 under par for the tournament.
The man in his sights is leader Ross Fisher who has returned a pair of 65s for 14-under-par 130. Tiger Woods, unhappy with his putting, had a 67 for 135.
