WOMEN'S PRO TOURNAMENTS

 

LOW-NOTE FINISH FOR JULIE FORBES

 

Julie Forbes from Aboyne had rounds of 78, 73 and 83 for a total of 234 in the Estoril Ladies Open of Portugal over the Oitavos course at Quinta da Marinha. She was the only Scot to survive the 36-hole cut.

Julie earned 660 Euros for the week which ended on a low note for her with nine bogeys, a double bogey and not a single birdie in her closing round.

France’s Stephanie Arricau won the title – her second tournament win in three weeks. She finished on nine-under-par 207, five shots ahead of compatriot Gwladys Nocera, to win the 45,000 Euros top prize.

A FEW DOLLARS MORE FOR SAMANTHA

 

Samantha Head, the only British or Irish player to contest the final round, finished tied 38th in the Duramed Futures Tour’s Lima Memorial Hospital Classic at Lost Creek Country Club, Lima in Ohio.

Samantha, from Bedford, had rounds of 71,70 and 72 for a total of 213 in a very low scoring tournament over a 5,992yd, par-72 course. Samantha eared $333 for her three-under-par effort.

Ji Min Jeong, one of many Koreans on the tour, scored her first win with rounds of 69, 66 and 68 for a 13-under-par total of 203. By birdieing the last hole, she had one shot to spare over Mollie Fankhauser. Her cash prize was $9,800.
