US FUTURES TOUR CLASSIC AT TUCSON

 

Vikki Laing earned $300 for a finishing joint 48^th in the Tucson Duramed Futures Tour Classic at Tucson, Arizona. The Musselburgh player had rounds of 71, 70 and 70 over the 6,15yd, par-70 course for a one-over-par total of 211. In her final round, she birdied the sixth,13^th and 15^th but bogeyed the fourth, 12^th and 16^th .

Charlotte Mayorkas from Las Vegas won the top prize of $10,500 with a birdie at the second hole of a play-off against Karen Dennison from Indiana.

They had both finished 11-under-par 199.

Charlotte had rounds of 66, 65 and 68 to Karen’s 67, 67 and 65.

 

JOEL HENDRY DOWN THE FIELD IN ARKANSAS

Elgin exile Joel Hendry tied for 64^th place in the Rheem Classic, the latest event on the US Nationwide Tour at Hardscrabble Country Club, Fort Smith in Arkansas.

Joel, twice Scottish youths champion, had rounds of 72, 68, 73 and 73 over the par-70 lay-out for a total of six-over-par 286. He had only one birdie, at the seventh, in his finial round which had bogeys at the third, fifth, 14^th and 16^th.

Darron Stiles beat Mchael Putnam in a play-off for the title after they had both finished on 13-under-par 267. Stiles shot 66, 66, 64 and 71 to Putnam’s 68, 67, 65 and 67.

Hendry has earned $3,706 on three starts on the No 2 men’s pro tour in the States.
