JILLIAN IS P AND K CHAMPION
Craigie Hill Golf Club member Jillian Milne won the Perth & Kinross women’s county championship for the first time today, thanks to a sparkling inward half over Blairgowrie’s Rosemount course.
Jillian, the No 4 qualifier, was three down after nine holes of the final to twice former champion, Jane Yellowlees (Murrayshall), the No 2 seed.
Then Jillian, who plays off five, covered the inward nine holes with two-under-par figures to eat up the deficit and win in the end by two holes.
“It was an excellent final,” said Dawn Butchart (Strathmore), the county secretary who lost in the first round of the match-play.
The top seed, Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth), lost by 3 and 2 in the morning semi-finals to Jillian Milne while Jane Yellowlees beat Norma Fleming (Alyth) by 5 and 4.
Carly Booth (Comrie) did not defend the title she won at the age of 12 last year.
