Graham Smith is crowned Renfrewshire Seniors' Champion

Graham Smith of
Bonnyton Golf Club was the winner of the Renfrewshire Golf Union Seniors'
Championship after a controlled round at Kilmacolm Golf Club on
Wednesday.
Graham played the
front nine in level par before starting back with two birdies to really set
himself up on the way home. However, a couple of bogeys on the back nine almost
unsettled him, but a strong par finish saw him home.
In the first game
of the day, the Immediate Past President of the RGU, Graham McGee set the pace
with a steady if unspectacular game, relying on his short game to hold his
score together and finished in second place.

Chris is pictured with county president Derek McGlynn.
For once the sun
shone on the RGU and the weather, over the day, was spectacular with constant
sunshine and very few clouds.
The rain earlier
in the week had the course in great condition and the fairways, off
preferred lies, were tight but fair and the greens were a joy to putt on.
This is the
second year that the RGU have successfully played this competition at “The Mini
Gleneagles” in Renfrewshire and like the Masters in Augusta we would like to think that we have
found a permanent home for the event.
The entry this
year was around 90 and we would hope to see this increased in future years.
The Renfrewshire
Golf Union would like to thank Kilmacolm Golf Club for the use of their
facilities to host this event, and to congratulate them on the condition of the
course and the in house facilities provided.
