Murray Naysmith T41 finish at Ping Cougar


Classic as Welsh team-mate makes top 20

Murray Naysmith from Edinburgh, a freshman student at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, finished T41 in a field of 65 competitors at the two-day Ping Cougar Classic, hosted by Brigham Young Univetsiry at Riverside Country Club, Provo in the state of Utah.

The Scot, pictured, had rounds of 72, 75 and 75 for a total of six-over-par 222.
UAB team-mate Tim Harry, a sophomore from Glamorgan, finished T20 on 216 with rounds of 72, 71 and 73.
Pavan Sagoo (St Mary's, California) (68-72-75) beat Blake Meek (Loyal Marymound) (71-68-70) in a play-off after they had tied on seven-under 209 in regulation play.
Hosts Brigham Young (842) won the team title ahead of Loyola Marymount (850) and Utah (852). UAB (863) finished eighth in a field of 11 teams.
UAB, "The  Blazers," will be participating  in the C-USA Championship which takes places from Sunday, April 23-26 in Texarkana, Arkansas.
UAB took second place at last year’s championship and then placed third at NCAA Regionals to qualify for their third straight NCAA Tournament.
