Johnston seven shots off lead with a round to go in S African amateur stroke-play

Liam Johnston (Dumfries and County) has seven strokes to make up on the Irish leader, Robin Dawson over the final round, if he is to win the South African men's amateur stroke-play championship at Kingswood Golf Estate.

Johnston, pictured, joint first-round leader, has had scores of 66, 72 and 67 for a 54-hole tally of five-under-par 205 and eighth place behind Dawson who has had scores of 68, 65 and 65 for 12-under 198.
Craig Ross is just outside the top 10th in a tie for 12th place on 208 with scores of 69, 66 and 73.
Craig Howie is joint 28th on 211 with rounds of 70, 71 and 70.
Eric McIntosh, last year's Scottish boys' match-play champion, has scored 75, 69 and 71 for joint 54th place on 215.
Jamie Stewart, the only other Scottish qualifier for the last two rounds, has scored 70, 74 and 73 for 217 and joint 64th place.
