Leader Bradley Neil crashes in final Spanish

round and finishes fifth

Two shots ahead of the field with 18 holes to play, Blairgowrie's Bradley Neil plummeted to fifth place as a result of a disastrous closing round of six-over-par 78 - 14 strokes more than he took in his second round at the Spanish Evolve Tour's Pre-Q 54-hole event that ended at Bonmont Golf Club, Tarragona today (Saturday).

Neil, pictured left, won many tournaments as an amateur but he has lost the knack since turning professional. Mental pressure? Who knows? But it is sad to see such a talented young player not fulfilling his great potential in the pro ranks.
Christian Braeunig from German was the winner by two shots with rounds of 68, 68 and 70 for 10-under 206.
Welsh amateur David Boote finished second on 208 (68-68-72).
Wallace Booth finished fourth with rounds of 76, 65 and 70 for 211 - one ahead of Neil whose three rounds were 70, 64 and 78.
Bradley did birdie two par-5 holes, the seventh and the 14th but he had six bogeys and a double bogey 7 at the par-5 17th in halves of 38 and 40.
Jamie Savage, the third Scot in the field of 20, finishe dninth of 20 with rounds of 72, 72 and 73 for one-over 217.
