Edmond v Reid in Links final as he bids for record-equalling fifth win

Barrie Edmond (Bon Accord) is one match away from equalling Jack Booth's record of five Aberdeen Links championship final victories.
Barrie (pictured) beat another former Links title holder, Ron Evett (Northern), by one hole in tonight's semi-finals.
Edmond eagled the fourth and the seventh was halved in birdies.
Evett birdied the eighth  to get back to one down.
The  next four holes were halved before Edmond  birdied the 13th to go two up
In a quality match, the 14th and 15th were halved in birdies.
The 16th was also halved, in pars. Then Evett holed from 20ft ton win the 17th with birdie to take the match to the last hole. Evett was on green, about 25ft away from the hole, and was unlucky not to hole his putt.
Edmond was the winner as his tee shot was just 4ft from the pin.
Edmond's opponent in Friday evening's final will be Barry Reid who beat Caledonian clubmate and past Links champion, Alex Cruickshank, by 2 and 1.
Reid was three up with four to play when Alex made a good chip at 15th and holed from 8ft while Reid took three to get down from the edge of the green. The next two holes were halved, leaving Reid the winner.
In the Handicap Shield semi-finals, Liam Minty (Northern) (4) beat clubmate Graeme Robertson (6) by 4 and 3.
Minty played very well and was round in level par
In the second semi- final David Oliver, who plays off four, beat Caley clubmate Walter Ross, also a four-handicapper, by  2 and 1.
Two seniors, Jackie Forrest (Northern) (12) and Graeme Mckie (Caledonian) (11) will contest the Murray Cup final, also on Friday evening.
Forrest beat George Martin (Bon Accord) (16) . Forrest  missed a 4ft putt for a half at the 18th but he played an excellent chip to three feet at the last after coming up short of the green with his tee shot.
Martin was bunkered from thee and could not hole the 20ft putt after his recovery from sand.
In the second semi- final veteran Graeme Mackie (Caledonian) (11) used his experience to beat his younger opponent Sean Stewart (Northern), who also plays off 11, by 3 and 1.
