Renfrewshire Boys Golf Team continued the defence of the West League Title which they won in 2015 with a draw away against Ayrshire at Ayr Belleisle Golf Course, this leaves them joint top of the league with Glasgow.
The day started with lovely weather but as the day went on the rain came in and the final games were played in very wet conditions.
Renfrewshire fielded a new player, Euan McNeill - Lochwinnoch in the Under 16 section of the team together with more experienced players in the Under18’s.
Taking into account the fact that most of them had not played the course before the result was even more encouraging for the Team Managers, Graham McGee and Lyall Campbell.
It took a while for the boys to settle into the game and early doors things were not looking god, but an inspirational 7 holes from Tom McKenzie saw him go from 2 down to win 7 in a row for a 5/4 victory.
Aidan O’Hagan was well outclassed by the son of former Walker Cup Player Jin Milligan.
Solid Roddy McAuley produced a good victory and the result hinged on the performance of the Under 18 boys.
Things looked good for a victory, but the Under 18’s mostly failed to live up to expectations and only Matthew Dalrymple gave his usual solid performance.
The next match is at home v Lanarkshire at Elderslie Golf Club on Sunday 3rd July and this will go  a long way to deciding who are the 2106 Champions
