Rory Franssen has won the Proudfoot Trophy as the leading qualifier for the match-play stages of the South African men's amateur championship at George Golf Club.
The 17-year-old from Inverness, pictured, shot rounds of 64 and 68 for an excellent aggregate of 12-under-par 132 to head the 64 qualifiers for the match-play
And another Scot, Craig Ross (Kirkhill), is the No 2 seed with scores of 67 and 66.
Sandy Scott (Nairn) qualified in joint 18th place with 72 and 69 for 141. The only Scot to fail to qualify for the match-play was Jamie Savage (Cawder), a former winner of the Irish open amateur stroke-play title. Jamie finished tied for 65th place ... only the leading 64 advanced.
