Nick Robson expects Senior Open stars

to play in Aberdeen Senior Masters

 By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Thistle Windows and Conservatories chief executive Nick Robson, one of three sponsors of the Aberdeen Senior Masters at Meldrum House Golf Club from July 12 to 14, has high hopes for the second staging of what will be a 54-hole tournament for professionals and Class 1 amateurs aged 48 and over.

"I think the 2016 event will be a much bigger and better event than last year. The prize money is up from £35,000 to £50,000 and the fact it is being held the week before the Senior Open at Carnoustie is sure to attract more overseas players," said Nick Robson, pictured at Meldrum House GC, an active senior golfer and member of Meldrum House Golf Club.
"We already have a number of American and Canadian players entered. We also already have commitments from four former Ryder Cup players.
"Most of the players from last year are spreading the word about how good the Meldrum House course and facilities are so we expect a full compliment and a waiting list."
Robson is meantime on the Algarve, ready to compete in this week's European Senior Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 event over 36 holes at two Pestana courses.

+The other sponsors of the Aberdeen Senior Masters are Meldrum House Hotel, and The Gym Rental Company.
