Fotheringhams first and second in North District 

championship with Bryan the winner from Fraser


It was a Fotheringham 1-2 finish in today's North District championship at Brora.
Former Scotland cap Bryan Fotheringham, formerly of Forres but now playing out of Inverness, won the title with rounds of 71 and 66 for 137.
Bryan won by two shots from Fraser Fotheringham - no relation - who had scores of 68 and 71 for 139.
Young Rory Franssen (Inverness) had a day to remember. He finished third overall on 142 with a pair of 71s which included a hole in one with a rescue wood into the wind -- it was a quite breezy say with scattered shows - at the sixth hole (190yd).
Rory won the Murray Watt Trophy as North Distrcit youths' champion.
Sandy Scott (Nairn) was runner-up in the youths' aggregates with 73-70 for 143.

Bryan Fotheringham's fourth North title

Bryan Fotheringham (Inverness) is North District golf champion for a fourth time.
He regained the title at Brora today (Sunday) by matching the course record of four-under-par 66 in his second round.
Added to a first-round 71, Bryan's aggregate of 137 saw him finish in the pole position, two ahead of namesake but no relation Fraser Fotheringham (Nairn) who had rounds of 68 and 71 for 139.
Bryan Fotheringham trail joint first-round leaders on 68, Fraser Fotheringham and Nairn clubmate Sean Burgess by three shots but raced to the turn in round two in in four under par 31 with two opening birdies and also birdies at the sixth and 8th holes.
Bryan Fotheringam, revelling on Brora's immaculate greens,  got his card to six under par with two more birdies at the 11th and 16th before pushing his drive and bogeying the 17th hole, then bunkering his tee shot to the final par-3 green. His recovery from the sand left him a putt of four feet for a new course record but it slipped past.
Fraser Fotheringham  won the bronze medal before the day became a double for the Inverness club.
Rory Franssen, only 16, shot two 71s to finish third overall on 142.
His first round  featured a hole in one at the 174 yard sixth hole using a rescue club into the wind on what was a breezy day in the North.
Rory won the Murray Watt Trophy as the district youths' champion. Sandy Scott (Nairn) was runner-up in the youths' totals with 143 (73-70)
Another youth, Jake Carpenter of Forres had the leading nett score of 140 from five handicap.
