LATE DRAMA IN US PGA TOUR EVENT ON SEA ISLAND, GEORGIA

 STREB IS THE MILLION-DOLLAR MAN!

 Last-round 63, then wins three-man play-off

American Robert Streb, 27, achieved his first victory on the US PGA Tour by winning a three-man play-off with a birdie at the second extra hole to win the $1,008,000 first prize in the McGladrey Classic at Sea Island, Georgia today.
Streb caught the leaders with a final round of seven-under-par 63 in which he had nine birdies and two bogeys.
He birdied the third, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth in an outward 31. Then he birdied the 14th, 15th, 165h and 17th for 32 home.
He finished with a 14-under-par total of 266, matching the totals of long-time front-runners Will MacKenzie, who finished with a 68, and Brendon de Jonge (Zimbabwe) who signed off with a 65 to get into the play-off.
MacKenzie was eliminated in the play-off with a bogey at the first hole (the 18th). Then Streb won the second extra hole, a par-3, with a birdie 2 from about 4ft. De Jonge just missed with his 25ft putt for a 2.
Overnight joint leader Andrew Svoboda after three successive 66s, slid out of the title reckoning with a final round of one-over-par 71 for a total of 269 and joint eighth place. He was still in with a chance with five or six holes to play but contrived to bogey three of them with no compensating birdies.
