WELL KNOWN GOLF ADMINISTRATOR PASSED AWAY SATURDAY NIGHT

DEATH OF EDDIE SHERRY, SECRETARY

OF MIDLAND ALLIANCE FOR 23 YEARS

Eddie Sherry, a stalwart of the Midland Golfers' Alliance for almost a quarter of a century, died on Saturday night. He had been ill for some time.
Monifith professional and Midland Alliance treasurer Lee Sutherland paid the following tribute to Mr Sherry:
"As you all know Eddie was the Midland Golfers’ Alliance and he served us a secretary for 23 years. In that time he nearly doubled the amount of venues we played through the winter and made it into the success it is now.
"For me personally it was Eddie who got me involved when he asked or more like told me, I was going to be the new treasurer. He was very persuasive!

"Eddie has been missed at the meetings since he took ill and I am sure he will be missed at all our venues as their staff, always ask about him. Although Eddie did not reach the heady heights of the Amateur game, he made it possible for a lot of golfers to achieve their ambitions through his administration talents’ in Fife. For a wee Fifer he was a giant of Administration.
"Our thoughts are with Helen and family at this time.

"Funeral details will become available in the coming days."
