MACLEAN LEADS BY TWO AFTER

FIRST ROUND AT PETERHEAD

Balmore's Christopher Maclean opened up a two-stroke lead with a first round of four-under-par 66 in the North-east District Open championship at Peterhead Golf Club today.
His closest rivals going into this afternoon's second round were Anthony Blaney (Liberton) and Nick Macandrew (Royal Aberdeen), both on the 68 mark.
North-east District secretary George Young was very disappointed with the size of the field - one of the lowest, if not THE lowest for the championship.
There were 14 withdrawals, including current Scotland internationals Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) and Craig Ross (Kirkhill), and past cap Scott Borrowman (Dollar), as well as five no shows, leaving only 43 to tee off.
