GLASGOW ROOKIE PRO'S GOOD START IN OMAN


Rookie pro Conor O'Neil from Pollok cancelled out a double bogey 5 at the short fifth with a bag of six birdies - at the fourth, sixth, seventh, 13th, 15th and 18th - to finish the day in joint third place with a four-under-par 68 in the MENA Tour's Ghala Valley Open at Ghala Valley Golf Club, Muscat in Oman today (Monday).
O'Neil is three shots behind leader Joshua White from England, who set a course record of  seven-under- 65 with eight birdies in all to go two shots clear of the field.
Balmore's Fraser McKenna, who turned pro at the same time as O'Neil in mid-August, had six birdies but was dragged down by five bogeys to return a 71 for a share of 16th place.
