Two amateurs, Lewis Reid (Fortrose and Rosemarkie) and  John Campbell (Grantown on Spey), shared the leading scratch honours at Saturday's North Scottish Golfers' Alliance fixture at Boat of Garten.
They both shot one-under-par 69s on a day when the start was delayed until overnight frost lifted and when the later competitors had to endure heavy rain.
Reid turned in one-over 35 after a bogey at the third but birdies at the 12th and 13th enabled him to come home in two-under 34.
Campbell had an erratic outward half of two birdies (fifth and seventh) and three bogeys (first, second and eighth) to reach the turn in 35.
Birdies at the 13th and 15th got him home in 34.
Another Grantown player, James Grant, had the best outward half of the day - 32 - with birdies at the first, seventh and eighth offset by a bogey at the ninth. Birdies at the 10th and 12th saw him move to four under but a bogey at the par-5 13th and a 7 at the last brought him back to a level par 70.
