CLARK BRECHIN MAKES NORTH-EAST GOLF HISTORY

Murcar Links' Clark Brechin made North-east golfing history today when he won the district match-play championship for the third year in a row. No player in the past has ever achieved the hat-trick.
Brechin retained the Jaffrey Cup by beating Aberdeen Links championship finalist Barrie Edmond (Bon Accord) by 4 and 3 in the final at Oldmeldrum Golf Club, after winning by 3 and 1 over US college student Sam Strachan (Inverallochy) in the morning semi-finals.
Edmond beat Russell Ord (Oldmeldrum) 4 and 2 in the other semi-final.
The four semi-finalists qualified for the Jaffrey Cup by being the leading four players in the Journal Cup district team competition at the same venue on Saturday.


RESULTS
Semi-finals - Clark Brechin (Murcar Links) bt Sam Strachan (Inverallochy) 3 and 1, Barrie Edmond (Bon Accord) bt Russell Ord (Oldmeldrum) 4 and 2.
Final - Brechin bt Edmond 4 and 2.
