Bell beats Bowman at ninth extra hole in Angus county match-play

Graeme Bell won a marathon match to progress to the semi-finals of the Angus men's county match-play  championship at Monifieth Medal course today.
Graeme beat Grant Bowman at the NINTH extra hole of their quarter-final. In the semi final Graeme will play Monifieth maestro Ian Hutcheon who had two comfortable wins. The other semi-final will be contested by two Ballumbie players, Steve Harrod and young Danny Lawrence.

FIRST ROUND

M Lindsay (Broughty) w.o. G Findlay (Ballumbie) scr.
G Bell (Downfield) bt G Duncan (Carnoustie) 1 hole.
G Bowman (Monifieth) bt R Laing (Grange) at 19th.
D Webster (Forfar) w.o. S Smith (Downfield) scr.
D Lawrence (Ballumbie) bt M Gentles (Edzell) at 19th,
M Brown (Monifieth) bt R Munro (Monifieth) 3 and 2.
S Harrod (Ballumbie) bt L Hutchison (Forfar) 4 and 3.
QUARTER-FINALS
Hutcheon bt Lindsay 3 and 2.
Bell bt Bowman at 27th.
D Lawrence bt Webster 2 and 1.
Harrod bt Brown 2 holes

The semi-finals and final will be played Sunday, July 4, commencing at 10 am and 2.30 pm.
