McDonald Ellon win NE District

championship for Journal Cup

McDonald Ellon Golf Club won the North-east District team golf championship for the Journal Cup at Ballater today ... with the help of a hole in one!
Their team of Adam Dunton, Kevin Duncan and John Godward totalled 417 – five shots ahead of runners-up Fraserburgh who were represented by Justin Duff, Jordan Findlay and John Mitchell.
Bon Accord (Matthew Greig, Alan Shand and Barrie Edmond) finished third on 426.
Newmachar (Martin Lawrence, Chris Simpson and Kevin Riley) came fourth on 429.
John Godward had a double reason for celebration. He had a hole in one at the fifth hole, using a No 6 iron.
The four players with the lowest aggregates in the Journal Cup automatically qualify, if available for the Jaffray Cup match-play tournament, also at Ballater, on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
