County championships round-up from Robin Wilson

Inverness County golf Championship at Boat of Garten

Eleven years after he last won the Inverness county championship, Gordon Hay (Carrbridge) won the title for a second time with two par-equalling scores of 69 for 138 at Boat of Garten. He won by five shots from Inverness's Ally Cameron (71 and 72), 143.

Moray County Championship at Hopeman.

As part of their their Centenary Year celebrations,Hopeman Golf Club staged the Moray county championship for the first time. Moray's Robbie Sheils claimed his first county win since 1999.
Sheils made up five shots on first round leader Mark Ross (Elgin) with a second-round card of three under par 65 for a total of 141.
Ross dropped back to a share of third place on 144. Matching Sheils' second-round 65 after a first-round 77 was Moray clubmate John Matheson to take the runner- up bronze medal with a total of 142.
Heroes of the home club in their Centenary Year were members Eddie Leggat and Graham Mackenzie who shared the lowest leading net return of 135.
