GLENMUIR PRO TOURNAMENT HIT BY RAIN
RON MARSHALL REPORTS
Play in the third round of the Glenmuir PGA professional championship at Moortown Golf Club, Leeds was abandoned for the day at 3.15pm because of persistent rain today.
Tournament Director Simon Higginbotham announced to the 56 players who survived the halfway cut that the third round would be completed on Friday morning, and the fourth and final round would have a two-tee start.
Welshman Andrew Barnett and Teessider Graeme Bell lead jointly at three under par, while top Scot Craig Ronald (Carluke) moved into a tie for eighth place after 10 holes.
The Carluke pro eagled the first, dropped a shot at the next hole but retrieved it at the seventh. He then made what proved to be his final gain - a birdie 2 at the short 10th - before play was suspended.
The only Scot to finish was Uphall's Gordon Law who triple-bogeyed the final hole in the worst of the weather, carding a five-over 76.
