seed to be beaten
at Carnoustie
Former title-winner Glenn Campbell (Blairgowrie) became the fifth seed to be beaten on the fourth day of the Allied Surveyors Scottish amateur championship at Carnoustie.
Glenn, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, the No 7 seed, lost by one hole to Stuart Graham, ironically, a Blairgowrie clubmate.
Earlier No 2 seed Wallace Booth (Comrie), was a morning casualty.
In one of the ties called in off the course at 9.30pm last night because of darkness, Booth and Chris Harkins (Ayr Belleisle) resumed hostilities at 8am this morning.
Harkins, an Ayrshire county player with nothing nationally on his CV, was the surprise winner by 2 and 1.
That meant half the starting line-up of four seeds, those from No 2 to No 5 inclusive, had been eliminated.
Only seeded survivors at this point are No 1 Callum Macaulay, No 6 Michael Stewart and No 8 Scott Henry.
