STUART ROBIN WINS AT PRESTWICK ST NICHOLAS

Stuart Robin (Kilmarnock Barassie) won the £340 first prize in today's (MON) Linksland Series Young Professionals' tournament at Prestwick St Nicholas when his opponent in a sudden-death play-off had to retire injured after only one shot.

Steven Duncan from Balbirnie Park had tied with Robin on three-under-par 66 for the top spot but damaged his left wrist in driving at the first extra hole and was in too much pain to attempt to play his second shot.

Duncan's consolation prize was a cheque for £306.

In the regulation holes, Robin birdied the third, 10th, 11th, 14th and 17th and had bogeys at the 13th and 16th in halves of 34 and 32.

Duncan had an eagle 3 at the long 13th and birdies at the third, fourth, ninth and 16th with bogeys at the eighth, 10th and 16th in halves of 33.

They finished one stroke clear of Iain Colquhoun (Dundonald Links), Graham Fox (East Kilbride) and Peter Mitchell (Hermitage).

The Linksland Series Young Professionals' Grand Final will be held at the Renaissance Club, Archerfield over 36 holes on October 20.
