Mitchell v Coull for Scottish
Mid-Amateur title

John Mitchell from Fraserburgh is playing Ross Coull (Edzell) in the final of the Scottish men's mid-amateur championship over the Dundonald Links in Ayrshire.
Mitchell, last of the 16 qualifiers, scored an upset win over fellow North-east player Terry Mathieson (Kings Acre), the top seed and beaten finalist in 2006.
Mitchell won by one hole, thanks to a par 5 at the last. Mathieson was top seed. He moved from Aberdeen to Edinburgh within the past year and got a job at Kings Acre Golf Centre, having had a similar post at Aberdeen's Kings Links Golf Centre.
In the second semi-final, Coull, the No 8 seed, beate Steven Robertson (Sandyhills), the fifth qualifier, by one hole. Coull, two down after seven, led for the first time at the 13th.
