GILLIES MOVES CLOSER TO

HALF-MILLION MARK IN

TARTAN TOUR WINNINGS

Colin Gillies, winner of close on £445,000 on the Tartan Tour since he turned pro in 1984, added £1,071 to his career earnings when he won the Douglas Park pro-am this evening.
Gillies beat the big field of professionals with a two-under-par round of 67, one shot ahead of Stephen Gray (Hayston) and David Orr (East Renfrewshire).
Although he has had had quite a few top-10 finishes this season, this was Colin's first pro-am since Carnoustie in late April.
Gillies, who will be 42 on August 1, was Scottish professional champion twice in the 1990s. Colin is pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency (all rights reserved).
Alan Lockhart (Ladybank) led the amateur trio of David Docherty (handicap 13), Alistair Hammond (12) and Fergus Platt (18) to victory in the team event with a net score of 14-under-par 124.
