SPANISH TAIL WAGS TO BEAT SCOTS
BY A SINGLE POINT OVER TWO DAYS

Scotland went down fighting by a single point – 12 ½-11 ½ - in a two-day men’s amateur international friendly golf match at Escorpion Golf Club, Valencia over the weekend.
After the Saturday honours were shared 6-6 and the Sunday morning foursomes finished 2-2, everything hinged on the second session of eight singles.
Wins by Scott Henry (Cardross) and Ross Kellett (Colville Park) and halved matches featuring Callum Macaulay (Tulliallan), Wallace Booth (Comrie) and Scott Mann (Carnoustie), Scotland looked set for a memorable win on Spanish soil.
But the Spanish tail wagged furiously to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
John Gallagher (Swanston New) lost by one hole, Kevin McAlpine (Alyth) lost by 3 and 2 and Keir McNicoll (Carnoustie) went down on the 18th green where Spain gained their clinching point.
Disappointing but not a bad performance by the Scots at this early stage in the season.
Scott Henry was Scotland's most successful performer over the two days. He had three wins and one defeat for a 3pt haul.
Wallace Booth collected 2 1/2pt from two wins and a halved match.
John Gallagher and Ross Kellett both gained 2pt while Scott Mann, Callum Macaulay and Keir McNicoll scored 1 1/2pt apiece.
Kevin McAlpine had one win in four outings for 1pt.
