Fairways Target Golf Leagues Report

It was a gripping finale to the Monday League with some high, and some low scoring from the teams in contention. Trilight completed their season undefeated and their last game was just a lap of honour but they did it in style with 85, their highest score of the season.
This was bad news for Northern Ironmongery who were in the battle for second and the final play-off place. The Ironmongers' total of 71 was also their highest of the season but not good enough to take the points and thus they fell out of the race for second place.
The Specialists, who were in pole position to grab the play-off place as they had the bye, could only muster a total of 29 and this put them in a rather vulnerable position. It was the Loch Ness Juniors who stepped in.
Not since Fairhurst in the first week of the season has their been a three-figure score but the Juniors rose to the challenge and recorded 108 - the highest total of the season. This gave them the win over the Underdogs and tied them with the Specialists on eight points.
It would be the shots scored total that would decide who would join Trilight in the play-offs. After the final-game scores had been added the Specialists had a season total of 338 shots scored but the Juniors' magnificent final-night play moved them onto 352 – a winning margin of just 14 shots (or two balls over the whole season)!
The Top Team Play-off and Captain's Cup will be held on Wednesday, March 19.

The Tuesday league now has an outright leader and there is a very balanced looked about the table. This week the two teams tied at the top were facing each other and it was the Luckless Leadbetters who took the spoils from the Grumps.
It wasn’t the highest scoring of games but the Leadbetters' solid performance in middle target was enough to get past the Grumps who could not put a single ball in that target. The Leadbetters are now two points ahead of the Grumps with just three games left to play.
Raigmore Motel kept up their play-off hopes with the narrowest of wins over the Coastguards.
It seems that the Coastguards are inventing new ways to lose each week. This time it was by a single shot. They actually had more scoring balls than Raigmore but not in the higher scoring targets. This is the second time this season that they lost by just one shot and the fourth time by four or fewer shots.
As a result Raigmore are now two points behind the Grumps in third place.
The good news story is that Fairways finally delivered and scored the highest total for the night with their win over the Old Swingers. This moves them above the Coastguards into fifth place just behind the Old Swingers in fourth.
