Defending champion George MacDonald ties for fourth

Moffat's George Rodaks headed the only two men ahead of him at the start of the final day but he could not hold off the strong late challenge of Irishman Maurice Kelly in the Spanish senior men's open amateur golf championship at Bonalba Golf Club, Alicante today (SUNDAY).
Kelly from Killeen Golf Club, Co Kildare, sixth in last year's Senior British open amateur championship at Nairn, put together rounds of 75, 75 and 72 for a six-over-par total of 222.
That relegated Rodaks to second place on 225 with scores of 74, 76 and 75.
Gordon MacDonald (Callander), bidding to win the title for the third year in a row, finished a creditable fourth equal onf 227 with scores of 75, 76 and 76, the same total as the four-shot overnight leader, Eustaquio Delgado. The man from Madrid slumped to a last round 82.
Robert Stewart (Tulliallan), lying second at the start of the final round, also dropped out of the picture with an 83 for a share of 14th place on 232.
