BUDDY MARUCCI KEEPS CAPTAINCY OF US
WALKER CUP TEAM AT HIS HOME CLUB

George “Buddy” Marucci, the winning United States captain in this year's Walker Cup match at Royal County Down, has been reappointed to lead the Americans in the 2009 match against Great Britain & Ireland.
Apart from Marucci's 100% record as a Walker Cup team skipper, there was another very good reason for making him the American captain for the 2009 match - it will be played at his home club, Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania on September 12 and 13.
Marucci, 55, is a career amateur who was runner-up to Tiger Woods in the 1995 US Amateur championship.
“Being the captain of the 2007 (American) team was the most fulfilling experience in my golfing life,” said Marucci. “I am honoured to have this opportunity again, especially at Merion.”
Marucci is the co-owner of Pennmark Auto Group, a luxury automotive company in the Philadelphia area.
Marucci played in the 1995 and 1997 Walker Cups. He was 3-0 in foursomes and 1-1-1 in singles. Marucci is a 1974 graduate of the University of Maryland.
