NORTH ACE JIMMY GUNN TURNS PROFESSIONAL - MAKE DEBUT
IN ARIZONA IN NEW YEAR

Jimmy Gunn, four times Royal Dornoch club champion, has turned professional at the age of 26. His next competitive rounds will be on the Gateway Tour in Arizona, starting on January 5.
He has managed to secure some sponsorship in the way of a vehicle, equipment and clothing but is still looking for assistance with the big entry fees necessary to play on the US satellite circuit.
Gunn's golfing career as an amateur in the North flourished over the last four to five years - although he was never quoted as a contender for a Scotland international cap. In fairness to the SGU selectors, Jimmy seldom played in the big 72-hole Order of Merit events outwith his area.
Lowering his handicap to a +3 rating with numerous sub-70 scores, he has a share of the Dornoch course record with a 64 and he has also scored 64 at Golspie this year on his way to a third successive Sutherland County Cup championship.
His future was pointed towards the professional scene after this year's Northern Open championship at Skibo Castle where, for a second time, he was the leading amateur in this 72-hole and his final scores this year put him into a share of third place overall among the Tartan Tour professionals.
