LLOYD SALTMAN CLICKETY-CLICKS TO MOVE
UP TO 8TH PLACE IN TOUR SCHOOL STAGE 1

We cannot give you the third-round totals from Chart Hills (see explanation below) at the end of Day 3 of the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 (Section A) process but here's a progress report from the event at The Oxfordshire where the leading 29 players and ties after Friday's fourth round will go forward to Stage 2 in Spain.
Lloyd Saltman played his best round for a few weeks - a six-under-par 66 - to shoot up to eighth place behind Zimbabwean Tongo Charamba who had a brilliant 63 today.
Saltman had a running total of nine-under-par 207 compared with Charamba's 19-under-par 197.
Lloyd's Walker Cup team-mate, Rory McIlroy from Holywood, near Belfast is in joint ninth place on 208 alongside Carnoustie's Keir McNicoll who has not yet relinquished his amateur status.

At Chart Hills six players have still to complete their third rounds after play was suspended through darkness following an earlier fog suspension. Of the finishers, Michael McGeady of Ireland and England’s Andy Smith are tied for the lead at eight under par 208 after rounds of 68 and 70 respectively. The top 27 and ties will qualify for Stage Two.
Why the European Tour cannot display on their usually spot-on website all the completed 54-hole totals at Chart Hills is baffling.
