JOEL HENDRY STRUGGLING ON HOOTERS
TOUR EVENT IN AUGUSTA, GEORGIA

They seem to be getting as much bad weather in the States as we are in Scotland. On the NGA Hooters' Tour, at tke Kandy Waters Memorial Classic at Goshen Plantation Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, Scott Jamieson from Glasgow was unable to complete his opening round on Thursday when play was suspended at 2.20pm local time because of "inclement weather."
Jamieson possibly knows the course well, having spent four years as a student at Augusta State University, Georgia.
Former Scotland amateur international David Kirkpatrick, based at Lakeland, Florida for many years, did get round in two-under-par 70 to be joint 12th.
Elgin exile Joel Hendry needs a good second round to make up for a "poor" score of two-over-74 (on satellite tours in America, you simply have to score under par to survive). Joel had halves of 38 and 36 over a longish course of some 7,143yd with a par of 72.
Local American Scott Brown led with a six-under-par 66, by one shot from Justin Walters.
