ERIC RAMSAY AND PETER WHITEFORD MOVE
UP TO CHALLENGE IN KAZAKHSTAN OPEN

From Michael Gibbons
Press Officer, European Challenge Tour

Carnoustie’s Eric Ramsay and Peter Whiteford of Kirkcaldy moved within striking distance of a potentially life-changing victory at the European Challenge Tour’s Kazakhstan Open today.
The Scots duo are tied for fourth place on six under par 136 after respective second rounds of 68 and 71 at the Nurtau Golf Club, just four strokes off the lead held by Sweden’s Leif Westerberg with 36 holes to play.
Ramsay and Whiteford are chasing the richest first prize in Challenge Tour history of €52,800 in Kazakhstan, a prize that would take them to within touching distance of a place on The 2008 European Tour.
Currently 105th and 83rd on the Rankings, victory in Kazakhstan would propel both men well inside the coveted top 20 that are awarded with European Tour cards at the end of the season in just four weeks.
Ramsay and Whiteford will be joined at the weekend by countrymen Scott Henderson (two under), George Murray (one under) and Richie Ramsay (one under), while Euan Little, Jamie McLeary and Raymond Russell missed out on the one over par halfway cut.
