SCOTS ARE LEADING QUALIFIERS IN
EUROPEAN SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP


Defending champions Scotland were the leading qualifiers for the championship match-play flight in the European men's senior amateur team golf championship at Bled Golf Club, Slovenia today.
Stephen Ellis (Cowal) scored a 70, which helped him share the individual 36-hole honours with Ireland's Seamus McParland on one-under-par 145.
Ian Hutcheon (Monifieth) scored a 73 and finished ninth equal in the qualifying. John Johnston (Royal Aberdeen) had a second-round 75, Gordon MacDonald (Callander) a 78, and Donald McCart (Castlerock) slashed 14 shots off his first-day score to return a 73.
Brian Grieve (King James VI), Scotland's lowest first-day scorer with a 71, slumped to a non-counting 80. Only five of the six team players' scores counted daily.
