JUNIOR MASTERS QUALIFIER STIRLING

Wee County junior golfers missed out on the 10 qualifying spots for the Junior Masters final at Gleneagles in October. The top score of 46 Stableford points at the Stirling venue led the field of 51 junior boys and girls, and the qualifying mark for the boys' event was 40 points.
Best County performances came from David Kinnaird (Tillicoultry) with 39 points (14th) and Gary Chalmers (Dollar) with 37 points (16th).
Gary could not sustain his recent fine form which saw him capture the junior open titles at Muckhart and Dunfermline.
Other scores and placings were: Alloa junior champion John Salmond 33 points (32nd); Steven McPherson (Dollar) 31 points (36th), Scott Baird 29 points (41st) and William Nelson 28 points (43rd).

SCOTTISH SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bob Stewart (Tulliallan) finished well up the field in the North of Scotland senior championship at Nairn Dunbar. Over the 6,700 yard lay-out, Bob took eighth position with scores of 74 and 78, and earned some points in the Seniors Order of Merit.
Alloa’s Ray Barton finished a bit further back with a two round total of 170. The event was won by the evergreen Ian Hutcheon with an aggregate of 142 (69-73). The next two events soon are the West Seniors at Hamilton and the East Seniors at Monifieth.

SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The flagship event of the men's amateur golf season is the national championship decided by match play, and the 2007 event will be played over Old Prestwick, starting on the 30th July. Flying the County flag (again!!) will be Callum Macaulay and Scott Borrowman who will both be in action starting on the Tuesday.
Both have had recent runs of good form, and will be hoping to reach the later stages of the tournament. Soon after the event, the Scottish team for the Home Internationals in Ireland will be announced, and with the top players going professional, there will be a fair number of new caps. Play well, guys !
