MICHAEL SIM EARNS $9,408 IN
BUICK OPEN AS BATEMAN
HOLES WINNING BIRDIE PUTT
Aberdeen-born Michael Sim, the only Scot playing on the US PGA Tour, earned $9,408 for a joint 73rd place finish in the Buick Open at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club.
Michael, brought up at Perth, Western Australia after his parents emigrated from Westhill/Cults when he was seven - Michael is now 23, had rounds of 72, 68, 75 and 73 for a total of 288.
It was not one of Sim's best all-round performances but least he is now making cuts and is fit enough to play four rounds off the reel. Remember, Michael was diagnosed with a stress fracture of the lower back in the late autumn-early winter last year and had to rest for four to five months. He only resumed played in April-May.
Brian Bateman holed a 15ft birdie putt on the last green to avoid a four-man play-off for the magnificent trophy (pictured right) and the $882,000 first prize.
