STEWART, MACAULAY SHARE EAST OPEN LEAD

EAST OF SCOTLAND OPEN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

Callum Macaulay, who took over the lead from Duncan Stewart on the inward half of Saturday's second round, before dropping three shots in the torrential rain over the last few holes, regained the advantage over his rival in the third round – but lost it again with a bogey at the 18^th hole.

Macaulay had birdied the 17^th to get to six under par for the tournament but missed the green at the last and took three to get down from a grassy, sloping lie.

Stewart, who had a 70 for five-under-par 208, and Macaulay, 70, also for 208 share the pole position, two shots ahead of Scott Henry (69-210) with Gavin Dear (66-211), Glenn Campbell (69-211), Stephen Neilson (69-211) and the 2005 champion and last weekend's Tennant Cup winner, Wallace Booth also on 211 after a 69.

Thunder is rolling on the south side of the bay. Let's hope it stays over there.
