PHILLIPA THWARTS JUDITH BID FOR EIGHTH BORDERS COUNTY TITLE
Judith Anderson’s bid to win the Borders women’s county golf championship for a record eighth time was foiled in the final today (Sunday) by Phillipa Costello (Hirsel).
Judith, the No 2 seed from the Hawick club, was beaten on the last green, by two holes, by No 4 seed Phillipa.
Costello bt top qualifier Sharon Lees by two holes in the first semi-final while Judith Anderson beat Gillian Oliver (St Boswell) 6 and 5 in the other tie.

Semi-finals – Phillipa Costello (Hirsel) bt Sharon Lees (Kelso) 2 holes, Judith Anderson (Hawick) bt Gillian Oliver (St Boswell) 6 and 5.
Final – Costello bt Anderson 2 holes.
