AMERICANS FAVOURITES TO GAIN
PALMER CUP REVENGE

The United States look like starting hot favourites to avenge last year’s Palmer Cup thrashing by the Europeans when the next transatlantic students’ international match is played at Caves Valley Golf Club, Maryland on June 7 and 8.
The American team has just been selected and it includes four of the R&A World Rankings top 10 – Billy Horschel (Florida) (5), Chris Kirk (Georgia) (8), Jamie Lovemark (USC) (9), Webb Simpson (Wake Forest) (10).
The rest of the eight-man team, with their world rankings, are:
Jonathan Moore (Oklahoma State) (12), Dustin Johnson (Coastal Carolina) (17), Brian Harman (Georgia) (39) and Luke List Vanderbilt) (42).
The European team for the Palmer Cup contest has yet to be named but it will certainly include Richie Ramsay and Rhys Davies (East Tennessee State), the Edinburgh-born Welsh Walker Cup player who has won 10 tournaments in four years on the US college circuit.
