Scottish Golf Union Press Release re Bay Hill Tournament "affair"
RICHIE RAMSAY: SGU STATEMENT
The Scottish Golf Union this afternoon issued the following official statement on Richie Ramsay's exclusion from the Bay Hill Tournament:
The SGU has investigated Richie Ramsay’s entry into the Bay Hill Tournament. All paperwork submitted by Richie Ramsay to the organisers, was done in accordance with the tournament guidelines and deadlines supplied.
On the Saturday before the tournament, the SGU and Richie were informed that competitors were also required to register with the US Tour, but that the deadline for registration had passed. Consequently Richie was not allowed to compete.
We very much regret that Richie was unable to participate in the Bay Hill event, but we hope that Richie and other Scottish golfers may have the opportunity to compete in the tournament in the future.
We now consider the matter closed.
