FINISHES NINTH IN PGA
EUROPRO TOUR
QUALIFYING SCHOOL
Christopher Campbell from Grantown-on-Spey and a staff professional at the Carnegie Club, Skibo Castle finished ninth of the huge field that started out in the PGA EuroPro Tour Final Qualifying School at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire.
Christopher, pictured right, had rounds of 69, 70 and 75 for a three-under-par total of 214 over the Red and Blue Course.
He finished five shots behind the winner, New Zealander Todd Nicholson who shot 70, 67 and 72 for 209 and a three-stroke victory from Cennydd Mills (Vale of Glamorgan) and Mark Staunton (Black Bush GC, Ireland).
After Campbell, the next Scots in the rankings were young Paul Cormack from the Inchmarlo Golf Centre, Banchory and Ricky Gray (Torrance House) who finished joint 30th on two-over 219 with 72, 76 and 71. Cormack scored 77, 68 and 74 for the same total.
Graeme Brown (Montrose), Alan Lockhart (Ladybank) and Anglo-Scot Christopher Farr (Bransford Golf Club) finished on four-over 221 in joint 52nd place.
Chris Kelly (Cawder) made it into a share of 61st place on 222 with 80, 69 and 73.
After making the 36-hole cut of the Final Q School, it was all about finishing as high as possible in the final standings, because they will decide the "pecking order" for getting into tournaments on the 2007 PGA EuroPro Tour which starts shortly at Wensum Valley.
Players who finished quite high up in last year's Order of Merit were exempt fro this week's Qualifying School process.
