BOY" WINS ON WORLD STAGE:
BADDELEY TAKES FBR OPEN
It's amazing how many Doug Sanders "old boys" - teenagers who used to come from all over the world to play in the Doug Sanders world and European boys championships at Aberdeen in the 1980s and 1990s - keep popping up at regular intervals as winners on the world professional golf stage.
The latest is Australian Aaron Baddeley (pictured right) who birdied three of the last four holes to win the FBR Open at Scottsdale, Arizona last night (UK time) with a 21-under-par aggregate of 263.
Baddeley, a contemporary of course of fellow Australian Adam Scott - they played in the Doug Sanders world tournament the same summer - had started the final round trailing long-time leader Jeff Quinney.
Rookie Quinney was still three shots ahead of him with four holes to play but bogeyed the last two while Baddeley birdied three of them to turn everything around.
Quinney did not even finish second. That position went to John Rollins.
