ABERDONIAN RUNS UP 8 AT 602YD HOLE
IN EUROPRO TOUR EVENT

Former Scottish amateur champion Graham Gordon ran up a triple bogey 8 at the monster 602yd par-5 18th hole in the first round of the PartyPoker.com International Open golf tournament - the latest PGA EuroPro Tour event - at Collingtree Park Northampton today.
Aberdonian Gordon, who had birdied four earlier holes, finished with a two-over-par 74 in a wind gusting up to 30mph. Graham, winner of the Scottish amateur title at The Duke's, St Andrews three years ago this week, finished the day in a share of 37th place.
Callum Nicoll, the Scottish Young Professionals champion from Prestwick, Colin Mitchell (Blairgowrie) and Stephen Lamb from Cardrona are sharing 49th place on 75.
Only the top 50 and ties after the second round will make it through to the final round in the chase for the £40,000 prize fund.
Ross Cameron from Ellon and Cawder's Chris Kelly had 76s, two better than Glamorgan-based Paul Doherty.
Graham Rankin (Drumpellier) retired from the tournament after a disastrous 83, one shot better than Craig Sutherland.
Three Englishmen - Matthew Richardson, Sean Whiffen and Ben Welch - were the first-round leaders on three-under-par 69.
