IRISH YOUTHS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
ST ANDREWS LAD SURVIVES CUT
AS SHAW LEADS BY FIVE SHOTS
East Tennessee State University student Gareth Shaw (Lurgan) has a commanding five-shot lead after two rounds of the Irish youths' amateur championship at Royal Tara Golf Club. He has had scores of 66 and 67 to leave the field trailing.
Peter Latimer (St Andrews New), the only Scot in the field, did not survive the cut in last weekend's Scottish youths open championship but he safely made the 36-hole cut here with rounds of 71 and 76 for 147.
