EUROPEAN UNDER-21 CHAMPIONSHIP

LAURA MURRAY TAKES SALLY

WATSON PLACE IN SCOTS TEAM

Alford’s Laura Murray has been called up from the reserve list to replace Sally Watson (David Leadbetter Academy) in the Scotland squad for the European Under-21 junior girls’ team championship at Pan Golf Club in the Netherlands from July 11 to 15.

Sally, from South Queensferry, has withdrawn because she is competing in the United States girls’ open championship at Carmel Country Club, Charlotte in North Carolina from July 17 to 22.

Miss Watson, who will be 15 on July 10, will also not be able to defend the Scottish Under-18 girls’ match-play title at Peebles from July 18 to 21.

“It’s a pity but there are just not enough days in the week,” said Sally’s father, Edinburgh businessman Graham Watson.

Sally Watson and Carly Booth will represent Scotland in the European Junior Masters at Styrian Golf Club, Austria from July 27 to 29.

This means that Sally and Carly will miss the Scottish Under-21 junior girls’ open stroke-play championship at Stirling Golf Club on July 27 and 28.

Carly Booth lost to Sally Watson in the final of last year’s Scottish Under-18 girls’ championship at Tain. Like Sally, Carly will miss this year’s event at Peebles because she is Scotland’s girl representative in the R&A Junior Open at Heswall Golf Club, Merseyside from July 17 to 19.
