Calum is a Merchiston Golf Academy pupil really starting to show some form.
He shot 69, 66, 65 (-14)in
qualifying to secure his spot in the Oregon State team for this week's
team tournament in California. We did a lot of work during his time home
and hopefully now it is starting to pay off.
Calum's team were recently
over in Scotland playing which also gave me time to work with his two
college coaches. It was great to for us all to work together and it gave
the Oregon State coaches
a chance to watch how Calum and I work regarding his swing.
This is crucial towards our
"home-grown" players that we work together with the college collegiate
coaches. Otherwise it is so easy for our players to got bottled down in "
mixed" messages. Calum has two super coaches in Jon Reehoorn
and Jonnie Motomachi , they are coaches who understand the process and work with Calum in
his outlook to the game and different contexts from within the game.
It was a real pleasure for me to work with these guys this summer. They really made me feel part of the Oregon State set-up.
+Oregon State and Arizona State, both on 548 after two rounds, are tied third, four shots behind joint leaders St Mary's (California) and Pepperdine, in the team event which has a field of 15 squads.
